Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Murphy Research for using our website, your account, and our software. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.

Last updated: September 30, 2026

1. Who we are

These terms are an agreement between you and Murphy Research LLC (“Murphy Research”, “we”, “us”). They cover the website at murphyresearch.ai, your Murphy Research account, and the software we sell or give you, including the Coro plugins for macOS: Coro, Coro Delay, Coro Plate, Coro Boost and the Coro Bundle (Coro plus the three standalone plugins).

By creating an account, starting a trial, buying a licence or using our software, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use them. Some products shown on the site, such as Murphy, are not yet on sale; if and when they are, they may come with additional terms.

2. Your account

  • Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens under your account; tell us at joe@murphyresearch.ai if you think someone else has access to it.
  • One person per account. Don’t share your account or let others use it to activate software.

3. Buying: Paddle is our reseller

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you buy, you’re buying from Paddle, and Paddle’s Buyer Terms apply to the purchase itself (payment, taxes, invoices). Prices, and any sales tax or VAT, are shown at checkout by Paddle. These terms govern your use of the software you receive. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

4. Your licence

When you buy a product (or we give you one), we grant you a licence to use it. Specifically, the licence is:

  • Personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable — it belongs to the purchaser and can’t be sold or handed on.
  • Perpetual for the version you bought — it doesn’t expire. Updates are provided at our discretion; we don’t promise any particular update or new version.
  • Usable on up to 3 Macs at a time. To move it to another Mac, deactivate one from your account at murphyresearch.ai/dashboard/macs or from inside the plugin.

You may not:

  • resell, rent, sublicense or otherwise transfer the software or your licence;
  • share your account or licence files with anyone else;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software, except where the law expressly allows it; or
  • remove, bypass or otherwise circumvent the licence check.

We own the software; you own a licence to use it. Anything not expressly granted here is reserved by us.

Trials

Each account can get one 14-day trial of the Coro Bundle, on its first activation. After the trial ends, you’ll need to buy a licence to keep using the plugins.

Free licences and revocation

We may give free licences, for example to reviewers or beta testers; they’re covered by these same terms. We may revoke a licence that was obtained by fraud, that was refunded or reversed through a chargeback, or whose holder has broken these terms.

How the licence check works

The plugins contact our server only to sign you in (through a device code you confirm in your browser) and to refresh your licence — roughly every 30 days, or when a trial ends. A refreshed licence reflects any refunds or deactivations. If a refresh fails, for example because you’re offline, your existing licence keeps working. Your audio never leaves your computer. See our Privacy Policy for what the check sends.

5. Acceptable use

When using our website, account system and servers, please don’t:

  • break the law, or use our services to infringe anyone else’s rights;
  • try to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other people’s accounts;
  • interfere with or overload the website or licence server, or scrape it with automated tools; or
  • send spam, malware or abusive messages through our contact forms.

6. Intellectual property

The software, the website, and the Murphy Research, Murphy and Coro names and logos belong to Murphy Research. Other names that appear on the site or in the software — such as amplifier or equipment brands and artist names — are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe sounds or compatibility. Murphy Research is not affiliated with or endorsed by Carlos Santana or any amplifier manufacturer.

Your amp captures and impulse responses

Coro doesn’t ship with any amp captures or impulse responses. If you load your own, you’re responsible for having the right to use them. They stay on your computer; we don’t receive them.

7. Beta software and disclaimer of warranties

Some of our software is in beta and may have bugs, change, or lose features. All of our software and services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement — to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t promise the software will be error-free or uninterrupted. Please keep backups of your sessions and projects.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Murphy Research will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or revenue, arising from your use of (or inability to use) our software or services. Our total liability for any claim relating to them is limited to the amount you paid us for the product concerned in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some places don’t allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived by contract.

9. Termination

You can stop using our software and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account, or revoke licences, if you break these terms. If your account is closed for that reason, your licences end with it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers and limitation of liability) do.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify account holders by email. If you keep using our software or services after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. This doesn’t take away any protection you have under the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms? Email joe@murphyresearch.ai. For order, payment and refund questions, you can also contact Paddle through your receipt email or paddle.net.
